While eLearning and mLearning are both types of online learning, the former is delivered on a PC or laptop and the latter on a smartphone or tablet—and fully utilizing either one requires optimizing training for the device it's delivered on.

Beyond merely ensuring content can be accessed on the desired device, it should also reflect the way learners typically interact with the device. Examples of content best suited to mLearning include microlearning lessons, video content with subtitles and interactive content such as polls and short quizzes—all of which are engaging and suitable for "on the go" learning.
