Absorb Software has successfully completed a SOC 2 Type 2 examination for Security and Availability principles, providing independent recognition that Absorb has met a high data security standard for its LMS. It’s a not standard every LMS can offer, so Absorb is so pleased to share this recent achievement.

What Does SOC 2 Type 2 Mean for LMS Customers?

A SOC 2 Type 2 report demonstrates that Absorb has implemented and sustains the systems and controls that protect our customer’s information and interests.

SOC 2 Principles Explained

  • The “Security” principle ensures that physical and logical systems are protected against unauthorized access.
  • The “Availability” principle ensures the system is available for operation and use as committed.

According to the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) who sets the standards for these independent examinations:

“SOC 2 provides greater transparency, allowing user organizations to have trust and confidence in the ability of the service organization to carry out its mission. It also allows companies to manage the risk associated with outsourced systems.”

Why is SOC 2 Type 2 Important for Absorb?

Data security is one of, if not the top concern for existing and potential customers. And with good reason. We want Absorb customers to know that by partnering with us, they are partnering with a company committed to consistently upholding rigorous standards for data security. When customer data is secure, clients can put their energy into creating and delivering superior learning experiences that drive their employees and businesses forward.

This learning starts with implementing the processes and standards that respect our customer’s (and learner’s) data and keeps it safe. Successfully completing a SOC 2 Type 2 examination demonstrates our security program’s operational effectiveness in protecting client’s data.

About the Absorb SOC 2 Type 2 Examination

The independent AICPA examination for Absorb was conducted by Schellman & Company, LLC between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. The principles covered in this examination were Security and Availability.

Absorb is dedicated to keeping customer data safe at all times. Successfully completing the thorough SOC 2 Type 2 examination is yet another way we can demonstrate—independently—that the company is meeting its word to customers.
